

Who actually is the villain? Do both sides actually want peace? Is it truly possible? Also, what happens when we grieve for somebody? The funks have been fed up of being slaves and revolted so the humans retaliated. Learning how this battle started between humans and funks was fascinating – whose account can you sympathise with? There are some excellent themes within this book – some of which I’m careful of mentioning without spoilers – but this text would make a perfect classroom text as it’s rich with philosophical questions to discuss.

It was true the thing had eyes like models of human ones, with fake irises that contracted in the torchlight, and a mouth with white plastic teeth and metal lips.
